In the deep and untamed forests of the Western Realm there are more top predators than there are prey on which to feed. Thus, the region remains relatively undisturbed by the outside world. Even the most renowned hunters and ruthless poachers neglect these woods because of the dense underbrush and uncertainty of what lurks just out of sight. The only ones able to brave this dangerous wilderness are the local warrior tribes, which are scarce to say the least. The Ranger was born amongst the greatest of these tribes, the Kahtoree, who live off of the pinpoint precision they posses with either the bow or the blade and their unmatched tracking skills. But still, survival is a challenge that they battle every day. One wrong move and you’re lost to the forest forever. It’s as simple as that in the harsh reality in which they live. Every aspect of everyday life is a trial in and of itself. To survive here, one must be quick with both the mind and the body, and such are the qualities that define the Ranger most accurately.
Although still fairly young, the Ranger has seen a lot in his days within the forest. Most recently the King’s procession paid a visit to his tribe, seeking a safe route through the forest in order to reach the kingdom on the other side. The Kahtoree generously obliged to the King’s request and led them through without so much as a scratch. However, upon departing it was discovered that one of the Kahtoree’s most sacred relics was missing, having been stolen by one of the King’s men. The Ranger had seen the man eyeing it and had no doubt that he was the one who took it. He then swore to the rest of his tribe that he would go and get it back as soon they were able to manage without him, which turned out to be a year and a half later. Nevertheless the Ranger never forgot the man’s face nor his vow to his people. And so he set out immediately on a path of revenge to reclaim the stolen artifact, tracking the culprit as best he could.
Eventually his search led him here into the Frozen Abyss and the town of Kultbury, where upon entering Jazmin’s Tavern he finally caught a glimpse of the one he was after. Deciding not to do anything rash though, the Ranger booked a room and began to watch the man, studying his habits in order to find the best way to proceed with his task. The other guests turned out to be of much amusement to him as well as he sat observing from his booth. Never having been outside the forest before, these people all seemed very strange to him, especially the bard who walked awkwardly, obviously faking an injury. Such tactics seemed pointless where he grew up, but maybe they came in handy up here. He somehow doubted it, but what did he know? Well, one thing he did know fairly well was traps. And such he decided was the way to get back at the man and find what he was looking for. So that night he set up a trap for his victim and set it in motion the very next day. Now was the waiting time for it to all unfold. He would have his vengeance and return the sacred relic to its rightful place. That was the plan. But he would soon learn that the path of revenge leads nowhere and never ends well…
