Guardians of the Glacier #1: The Bard

Growing up under the solitude of a mansion’s only child, the Bard had more than enough time to perfect his art. He, however, never mastered anything outside of songs of mischief. His parents tried everything to help him excel in his love for songwriting and storytelling, but no amount of money or tutors could steer him away from his true passion. And so at the age of fourteen he left the life of nobility and began performing his style of the traveling bard for all the world to hear. The world, however, held a bit of a deaf ear to his talents. Night after night he was thrown out of tavern after tavern due to the melody in which his spirit swayed. Apparently no one longed for songs of ridicule, nor appreciated his witty insults and foul tongue.
Although with every new town came new opportunities for him to right the ship because of his magnificent voice and gifts for storytelling. So for years he continued traveling, squandering every one of these opportunities because of his desire to act a fool. One time a man even stabbed him in the leg with a shard of glass because he was so embarrassed and outraged by the Bard’s disrespect for his reputation. Since then the Bard has always had a hobble to his step, though he is in no way spiteful toward the added pity it entails. After countless other close calls, the Bard eventually found his way here into the Frozen Abyss and the town of Kaltbury. It has now been just under two weeks since he arrived at Jazmin’s Tavern and began writing new songs for his new companions who have also taken refuge here. So far he has not made many friends outside of the Thief, who recently invited him to tag along on an errand and get some lute. The Bard accepted the offer, realizing he could really use a new lute. Some Innkeeper broke his last one. And so he followed the Thief out the door and into the dark, snowy abyss, humming a tune of satisfaction. But he would soon find out that the arctic winds had their own song to sing…
